Happy first official week of November! I can’t believe October is already over, and we’re in the last two months of the year! How did 2018 seriously pass by so fast?!
Though I’m dreading the next few weeks at work since it’s busy season, I can’t help but be super excited for the holiday season, since Thanksgiving and Christmas are my favorite holidays! I just love how everything is so festive, and the air is literally filled with excitement and anticipation!
Now if only LA can actually cool down just a bit, so it’ll actually feel like Thanksgiving and Christmas…
I’m serious, though! California has been having some strange weather, and it’s been warmer than previous years. We’ve still been having 80 to 90 degree temperatures in the afternoon, and no matter how much I want to breakout my new fall wardrobe, I just can’t because it’s still too hot! This is why I’ve been trying my best to add touches of fall and winter to my summer pieces! Read on to see how I style my basic summer pieces for a fall look!
1. Opt for a Ribbed Knit Crop Top
I love cropped knits during the winter, but it’s obviously still a bit too hot to wear them (at least in LA). Though cropped tees are definitely an obvious choice for tops, I tend to reach for my ribbed knit crop tops instead, since the rubbed texture can at least give off a more “fall” vibe.
2. Pay Attention to Color and Print When Choosing Skirts
Of course, skirts are definitely a summer staple that I haven’t been able to give up just yet! During the fall and winter, I tend to wear brighter colors and more jewel tones, and I find that this really helps to create a more season-appropriate look, especially during November and December!
To add a touch of festivity to my overall look, I incorporated jewel tones like red, emerald, and navy, and there’s no better way to do it than by wearing it in the form of plaid, don’t you think?
3. Pair with Fall Accessories
Never underestimate accessories and the ability they have to turn your entire ensemble around! I always love layering dainty jewelry pieces on for a look that subtly sparkles just a bit more, but in the fall and winter, I tend to reach for more weather-appropriate accessories, like scarves, beanies, and cozy knits.
4. Don’t Forget Weather-Appropriate Shoes
In my honest opinion, nothing says fall and winter quite like a pair of over-the-knee boots, and it’s even more season-appropriate when it comes in a jewel tone, like deep red!
I can’t stop reaching for these over-the-knee Vince Camuto boots because they’re not only cozy and warm, the overall silhouette and fit just makes for such a cute fall ensemble. For this particular outfit, the boots add a touch of festivity to the overall look, giving the skirt even more of an autumn vibe, don’t you think?
