I can’t believe it’s Halloween already! I mean, what really happened to the first ten months of this year? I feel like time literally passed by in a blur, and now, it’s going to be Thanksgiving and Christmas already! While I’m sad that this year is almost coming to an end, I’m also super excited about the holiday season, and that includes my grandma’s once-a-year turkey dinner, piping hot chocolates next to the Christmas tree, and of course, all of the festive decorations and music!
Before I get ahead of myself and start breaking out the Christmas carols, though, let’s take a look at some of my favorites from this past month!
1. JOAH Birthday Suit Eyeshadow Palette
First up is this gorgeous palette from JOAH! I’ve seen this brand on Instagram every now and then, but I never knew that their products were offered at CVS until I received this pretty package from Influenster! Not only is this palette super affordable (only $9.99 USD), it’s also made of such high quality ingredients! These shadows are very long-lasting, and I love how easy they are to blend out. Plus, the golden mattes and shimmers are perfect for the autumn, and I’ve been using it nonstop! If you’re looking for an affordable palette that will travel well, I definitely recommend this one!
2. JOAH Brow Down to Me Precision Brown Pencil
Another beauty must-have that I haven’t been able to get enough of is this ultra-fine tip brow pencil from JOAH! I typically like to use thicker brow pencils, so I wasn’t expecting to like this one, but I’ve found that this ultra-fine tip is perfect for refining the ends of my brows, giving it a sharper and cleaner look! It’s also super convenient to carry around in your purse for touch-ups, since the pencil is thinner than your traditional one so it’s very compact. Plus, it’s retractable, includes a cap closure, and also has a spoolie, making it not only hygienic, but also convenient, since you only need to bring one tool that acts as both a makeup product and applicator!
3. Boscia MakeUp-BreakUp Cool Cleansing Oil
Besides my love for makeup products this month, I’ve also found a new skincare favorite as well! If you’ve been following me for awhile now, then you’d know that I typically use Clinique’s makeup removing oil on a daily basis. Lately, though, I’ve been wanting to try something new, so I decided to pick this up during the sale at Sephora last time, and I haven’t been able to get enough of it!
This cleansing oil is very refreshing and leaves behind a cool, tingling feeling after I massage it onto my skin, and it gently removes my makeup, making the whole cleansing process a really enjoyable part of my routine. One of the main factors that intrigued me about this makeup remover, though, is that it’s formulated without sulfates, parabens, formaldehydes, formaldehyde-releasing agents, and phthalates, just to name a few! I’ve been trying to be more conscious of the skincare products that I use, leaning towards brands that are formulated with “cleaner” ingredients, and this makeup remover from Boscia is definitely at the top of my list!
4. Formulate Personalized Shampoo
As many of you know, my hair has been colored for around nine months now, and needless to say, I’ve been trying my best to upgrade my haircare game ever since! Recently, I’ve been trying a personalized shampoo and conditioner service from Formulate, a haircare company that focuses on research to formulate personal care formulas that work to deliver the best possible shampoos and conditioners that are personalized for individual needs! What I love most about their service is how its so customizable, so the formula is created specifically with the current state of your hair in mind, even taking into account its natural tendencies, the kind of styling products used, the environment, as well as personal goals for your hair overall! I’ve really been seeing an improvement in my overall hair quality, so this is definitely one of my favorites for the month!
5. Michael Kors Charley Watch in Black/Rose Gold
Other than beauty favorites, I also have a fashion favorite for the month, and it’s none other than this timelessly beautiful Michael Kors watch! I love the simple face, as well as the classic black and rose gold color palette, making it the perfect accessory to dress up just about any outfit! I haven’t been able to stop wearing it, and it definitely matches so well with all of my outfits!
6. Spy Girl by Jillian Dodd
And last but definitely not least, I feel like it’s definitely been awhile since my last book favorite, but there’s just something about the chillier weather and curling up with a blanket and a good book, don’t you think? While I’ve always leaned towards traditional books because I love holding a physical copy in my hand and turning pages, I’ve found that eBooks are super convenient and have actually encouraged me to read more! Since we’re always on our phones these days, I’ve found that eBooks make reading super accessible, because I can basically just read whenever I have a spare moment!
A few weeks ago, I started a new series of books by Jillian Dodd, and I’ve been hooked ever since! I actually only took about a week and a half to get through the first two books in the series, and I’ve been dying to read even more!
The series revolves around a strong eighteen year old young woman who is a covert agent that is part of an espionage group so secret “even the President of the United States doesn’t know it exists.” The books follow Huntley, our protagonist, as she goes undercover on her first mission, and there are literally twists and turns at every corner.
What I love about this story is that nothing is ever what it seems, and there’s actually a bigger, underlying story that revolves around the government and its deepest, darkest secrets. I’m a total sucker for thrilling books like this, and I think Jillian Dodd did a wonderful job of creating such a suspenseful story with her attention to detail and the way she writes action scenes! If you have some extra time on your ends, I’d definitely recommend this book because it’s so enjoyable and time literally flies by when you’re reading it!
And that wraps up my favorites for the month! What’re some of your favorites this October? Let me know in the comments because I always love hearing from all of you!
