The start of autumn always makes me super excited about dressing for the season, but I know many of you are sad that summer has officially come to an end because that means you’ll have to give up some of your summer wardrobe favorites, including shorts, skirts, and even jumpsuits!
While I used to harbor these same fears, I’ve changed my perspective about transitional weather fashion! Who says we can’t wear shorts, skirts, and jumpsuits during the fall? In fact, we can, and we can even make them autumn-appropriate!
And fear not because I’m here to share with you how I transition a summer jumpsuit into the perfect fall outfit!
1. Stay Away from “Spring/Summer” Colors; Opt for Darker Shades or Neutrals
Believe it or not, transitioning from summer to fall can be as easy as changing up your color palette! During the spring and summer, I always gravitate towards florals and pastel colors, but darker colors or neutrals are the epitome of a perfect autumn wardrobe, don’t you think?
Since fall is just beginning in LA, I opted for this chambray jumpsuit, since this color not only works for any season, its wearability makes it the perfect transitional piece that can be paired with just about anything!
2. Pair with a Cozy Cardigan (or Even a Blanket Scarf)
I absolutely love cardigans and will literally wear one all year round, but there’s just something about the fall that makes me even more aware of my love for these cozy articles of clothing!
The key to autumn dressing is layering, and there’s nothing quite like a chunky knit that adds the perfect bohemian touch to an ensemble, don’t you agree? With a long knit cardigan, this ensemble instantly feels “fall-appropriate.” Plus, it’s super functional too, since you’ll be able to keep yourself warm when it cools down later in the day!
3. Opt for Closed Toe Shoes
And of course, to finish off the look, never underestimate the power of your choice of shoes! While jumpsuits are instantly elevated with a pair of heels, closed toe shoes are the perfect choice of footwear to embody that autumn vibe.
This jumpsuit would look perfect with a pair of killer ankle boots, but for this specific look, I wanted to look more laidback and opted for a pair of chic white kicks!
