It may not technically be the end of summer just yet, but for some reason, as we near the end of August, I can’t help but feel a certain anticipation for red-orange leaves and chillier weather, but at the same time, I know I’m definitely going to miss the endless sun and the carefree feeling of summer! Do any of you feel that way too?
That’s why I’m going to try to hold on to summer for as long as I could, and I’ve been doing this by making the most of my summery outfits! Read on to see how I wear my summer pieces into the fall!
1. Don’t Put Away the Crop Tops Yet
I live in LA, so crop tops are a year round thing for us Cali girls, since it never gets too cold (plus, there are long-sleeve crop tops and cropped sweaters too)! For those of you who live in places with chillier autumns and winter, though, don’t put away your crop tops just yet!
Crop tops are a great way to add a touch of fun to an otherwise basic ensemble, since the cropped length is so youthful and elevates even the simplest tee, don’t you think?
If you want something a little more elevated than a basic ensemble, don’t hesitate to play with different silhouettes and necklines (like off-shoulder or strapless tops) and details (such as ruffles and drawstrings).
2. Florals Work for Fall Too
Whoever said florals were just for spring clearly hadn’t been exploring this print to its fullest! I mean, don’t you just love a good floral dress or skirt in the summer too? It adds such a fresh and feminine touch to just about any ensemble!
Other than wearing this flirty pattern in the spring and summer, I actually think it can be transitioned seamlessly into the fall as well, depending on what color palette you opt for. In particular, darker colors just seem more appropriate for autumn, and blooms that are true to the season also help to tone this print down for the fall.
For this particular outfit, rather than opting for a floral dress or skirt, I liked the idea of wearing this pretty print in the form of a kimono, since the fabric is still perfect for the hot summers in LA, but at the same time, the kimono’s silhouette exudes a more mysterious and sensual vibe that’s perfect for the autumn.
3. Denim, All Day, Everyday
And of course, who can ever say no to denim, right? I practically live in jeans since they’re super versatile yet comfortable; plus, they match with just about any outfit!
During the summer, I usually opt for denim cut-offs, but as we get closer and closer to fall, I’ve been reaching for my jeans more and more. These mom jeans have been my favorite lately because the higher-waist looks so good with crop tops, and the distressed detailing just makes it so effortlessly chic, kind of reminding me of all of the easygoing outfits that are the epitome of summer.
