Can you believe it’s already going to by July 4th this week? Independence Day has always been one of my favorite days in the summer because this day not only represents all that America stands for, we also get a day off to enjoy the summer with some fun outdoor activities! While some people may be hitting the beach, I usually like to get together with my family and friends for a barbecue or cook-out, where we enjoy the fireworks together!
I’m not typically someone who dons red and green during Christmas or pastels for Easter, but I do like to express a bit of patriotism in my fashion choices for July 4th, since it’s super easy to pull off and also puts everyone in a celebratory mood!
Read on to see 3 easy ways to style a simple yet chic Independence Day outfit!
1. Opt for Red, White and Blue or USA Graphics
One of the easiest ways to incorporate a dash of “July 4th” spirit into your outfit is to wear red, white, and blue. If donning these three colors isn’t really your thing, you can always opt for a top with a “USA” graphic design or print.
For my outfit, I chose a cropped “USA” sweater, since I know it can still get kind of chilly at night in LA, but at the same time, the cropped length gives me lots of breathing room throughout the day! Plus, it adds a fun yet youthful vibe to the whole ensemble, don’t you think?
2. Don’t Forget High-Waisted Denim Cut-Offs
Of course, there’s nothing quite like some high-waisted denim cut-offs since they’re basically a staple in every Cali girl’s summer wardrobe! A high-waisted silhouette adds major length to your legs and really helps to streamline the look. Plus, the high-waist is perfect if you really do decide to go for a crop top. Another big plus – denim instantly gives you something “blue” right off the bat!
3. Add a Touch of Red
If you’re like me and opted for a more subtle ensemble, adding a touch of red can really help to give your outfit that understated “patriotic” vibe. The choices here are absolutely endless, and you can opt for red shoes or even a red handbag, but a true July 4th outfit isn’t complete without some flannel, don’t you think? Red flannel is as much of a staple as denim cut-offs, and I love how it makes any outfit instantly “street-style chic” when you tie it around your waist, instead of actually wearing it as a top!
