4 Ways to Make Menswear-Inspired Trousers More Feminine

If you ask me to name one article of clothing that’s been getting a majority of attention both on the runways and in the streets these past few seasons, I can say that it’s none other than the menswear-inspired trouser!

I’ve really been loving how menswear trousers have been gaining so much traction because they’re honestly so comfortable to wear, but at the same time, they look super chic and effortlessly cool!

While I do love a good androgynous look that focuses on masculine silhouettes , there’s nothing I love more than juxtaposing such strong and sharp edges with more feminine details!

Read on to see how I make menswear-inspired trousers more feminine, so that they’re not only sophisticated enough for a powerful office look, but also ladylike enough for a slightly fancy lunch date!

1. Pay Attention to the Color of Your Trousers

While I typically choose trousers in more timeless colors, such as black and navy, there’s just something about dusty blush trousers that looks super feminine and sophisticated, don’t you think?

This color is definitely not for everyday office wear, but I love how soft and rustic it is, making it such a beautiful yet effortless choice, especially if you’re going to be wearing these trousers out for a date! Just because it’s spring, it doesn’t mean we necessarily have to opt for skirts right away, right? πŸ˜‰

2. Wear with a Crop Top

One of the best ways to wear trousers for a more feminine look is to opt for high-waisted fits. The higher-waist not only helps to accentuate the waistline for a smaller middle, the silhouette also helps to elongate the legs for a leaner and more feminine vibe.

With high-waisted pants, you can obviously pair with more form fitting tops, and while I would typically pair these with button-ups or a dressier blouse during the work week, on the weekends, there’s nothing I love more than pairing a good pair of high-waisted trousers with a fitted crop top!

There’s just something about this combo that really helps to draw attention to the waist, making you look super fit and subtly sexy without revealing too much!

3. Be Mindful of Soft Layers

Although it’s spring, it definitely still gets a little chilly at night in LA. I’ve been living in cozy cardigans, and I tend to prefer ones that can be worn off the shoulder a bit, since it adds just the right touch of effortlessness to the overall ensemble, don’t you think?

4. Pair with Heels

And of course, no outfit is truly complete without shoes, right? There’s nothing more classically feminine than high heels, and I love pairing a low block heel with trousers for a ladylike yet subtle look because it helps elongate the legs even more! Another plus – you definitely don’t have to sacrifice comfort for beauty with these pretty heels!
