I know turtlenecks are pretty common for the winter months, but one of my favorite forms of a turtleneck is when it’s actually in the form of a sweater dress!
Despite its bulkier fabric and looser silhouette, turtleneck sweater dresses still manage to look chic and feminine when styled the right way, don’t you think?
1. Pick the Right Length
There are many lengths to choose from, but I find that a shorter length that hits around the upper to mid-thigh looks the best because it shows your legs for a more streamlined look, especially if your dress is looser.
2. Pair with Over-the-Knee Boots
Though a sweater dress can be paired with booties as well, over-the-knee boots add just the right touch of glamour to the overall outfit, don’t you think? Plus, the longer length of the boots actually helps to elongate the legs so you look even taller! Another tip – choosing a brighter shoe color to complement a neutral, like grey, helps give the outfit more visual contrast, which can really make the ensemble pop!
3. Pay Attention to Details
Though we don’t typically pay that much attention to our sweaters, it’s important to note that vertically knit sweaters give the illusion of a slimmer form, and that’s exactly what I would look for when choosing a turtleneck sweater dress, especially since the one that I’m wearing is pretty bulky. Add to that a cut-out in the back of this sweater, and this cozy turtleneck is instantly elevated for a more feminine and sensual look!
Don’t you love how a turtleneck dress manages to add a touch of luxe to a typically cozy look?
