As spring slowly starts to roll around, it’s time to gradually start shedding the layers. It’s still not warm enough to exactly break out the tanks and camis just yet, but a classic button down is definitely a wardrobe staple that I constantly wear as we slowly transition from cold weather to sunnier and warmer days.
One of my favorite looks for spring is a classic light denim button down shirt paired with dark skinny jeans. I wear silk and chiffon button downs on a daily basis because I work in an office environment, but on casual Fridays and the weekends, a denim button down never fails to make me smile.
I love how denim button downs are especially comfortable because of the soft material, which offers a light and breathable fabric that’s perfect as the days start to warm up.
While denim on denim can definitely make an outfit tacky if not worn correctly, this denim on denim ensemble is just right because both the top and bottom are in varying shades of blue. With one being lighter than the other, it instantly draws focus away from the fact that both items are denim, but at the same time, the uniform color scheme in different hues lengthens the silhouette while still offering dimension.
The half-tuck is one of the easiest ways to instantly make an outfit chic, elevating it from casual to effortless, and I adopt this when I wear button-downs as well because it adds a fun little twist to the ensemble so it doesn’t too office-ready, especially if worn on the weekends. Paired with a pair of my favorite sneakers, this outfit is dressed for a more relaxed look. And if you get cold, try throwing on a coat in a similar color scheme – it adds a lot of dimension to the outfit without going overboard 😉
