As you all know, last week was New York Fashion Week, one of the fashion industry’s biggest events of the year! If you’ve been following along on my Instagram (@elizabeeetht), then you’ll know that I was invited to my first ever NYFW runway show by Yuna Yang! It was definitely a whirlwind experience in and of itself, and I’m so honored and thankful that I got to experience it for the first time ever this past week!
NYFW definitely started off a little chaotic. With the snowstorm that hit New York on Wednesday night, my initial Thursday morning flight was cancelled, and I had to reschedule it to Friday night. Even with the red-eye flight, I made it to New York on Saturday morning, and the show was just a little after noon, meaning I only had a few hours to get ready!
I was literally running on pure adrenaline and caffeine because I only got a few hours of sleep on the flight, and by the time the hotel was able to check me in to my room, I only had an hour to get ready! Luckily, I knew this would happen, so I already did my hair before I got on the plane, leaving me to change and do my makeup in less than 60 minutes.
After all of the hustle and bustle, I finally made it the Gotham Comedy Club between 7th and 8th Avenue on 23rd Street. The Fall/Winter 2017 collection by Yuna Yang was titled ‘Lights in the Shadow,’ and much like its magical name, all of the looks were gorgeous and ethereal, featuring prints with dancing lights and measured shadows. With methods of chiaroscuro, such as black lace and light fabric, she brought depth to her designs, illuminating unity and strength to shine brightly in the darkness.
I hope you enjoyed this little recap of the first runway show that I ever attended! Although I was only invited to one show this time around, I’m still very honored and happy that I was invited! When I first started this blog as a hobby, I never would’ve thought that one day I would be invited to New York Fashion Week, one of the most prestigious events of the fashion industry! 🙂 This goes to show that hard work, dedication, and consistency really does pay off, and I definitely hope that I’ll have even more amazing opportunities to be able to discover and learn more about fashion as I continue this blogging journey! 🙂
Did you attend New York Fashion Week? What were some of your favorite shows this season? And of course, don’t miss out on a full recap of my New York trip – coming soon! Stay tuned!
