Despite the ever changing world of fashion and the fickle nature of what’s “trendy,” a timeless style will always beat out seasonal fads. The thing I love most about classic wardrobe staples is that they never get old, regardless of time.
One of my favorite classics of all time is black. No matter the season or the silhouette, an all black ensemble is always the answer, and it can never get old, don’t you agree?
In the fall and winter months, an all black ensemble can seem a little gloomy, but the monochromatic color scheme can actually work in your favor in creating a chic yet cozy outfit by giving special attention to small and minute details.
What I love the most about this chunky black knit sweater, aside from its oversized silhouette and cable knit pattern, is the criss cross tie-front, which creates an interesting visual effect, drawing on some of summer’s favorite trends. By incorporating just subtle “trendy” details, a classic black knit sweater is instantly elevated, adding points to the chic factor of the whole ensemble.
I paired the oversized sweater with a pair of my favorite leggings. What I love most about these bottoms are the side panels of faux leather that run down the length of both legs. Not only does this visually streamline the whole silhouette of the outfit, which is essential when wearing an oversized top, the faux leather details also add just the perfect amount of edge to the cozy ensemble.
Adding to the edgy factor of the outfit, I finished off the look with some classic knee-high leather boots to reinvent a monochromatic all black ensemble by giving it just the right touch of effortless chic.
