One of my favorite colors to wear as we delve deeper into the fall is definitely red. Not only does the color almost match some of the crisp autumn leaves that adorn every tree along the streets, the richness of a deep red or maroon always brings such an understated elegance to even a simple ensemble.

This is one of my favorite outfits to throw on when I’m out running errands around town. At first glance, though a long sleeve tee seems like such a simple top, the thin ties in the front make for a subtle yet detailed little embellishment that sets this blouse apart from others.

And while I know it may not be possible to wear denim cut-offs in the middle of November depending where you’re at, but in Los Angeles, it’s still possible, despite the slightly cooler temperatures.

To give some warmth my exposed legs, I tied a flannel shirt around my waist, so that it not only drapes over my thighs, but also adds just another touch of red to the whole ensemble. This also adds a different layer to the silhouette, adding interesting yet eye-catching details to a simple outfit.

I finished off with high-heeled black suede ankle booties, adding some edge and height to the look. Although the whole ensemble is made from a few seemingly simple pieces, when put together, the small details make for a stylish, yet uncomplicated outfit.

It’s my firm belief that rather than splurging on fads and trends that’ll fade quickly with time, keeping things simple allows you to curate a timeless wardrobe by adding pieces to your collection that will create subtle yet chic statement ensembles.

  2. I love this colour scheme! Red and burgundy have always been my favourite fall/winter colour. And it so good that you still get wear shorts in LA, I’m already wrapping myself up with coats and scarves haha! Europe is freezing at the moment. I always love your outfit posts, your looks are always perfect for everyday errands, but still very pretty at the same time 🙂 Hope you are having a great weekend so far!
