One of the key differences between a summer and autumn wardrobe is the apparent shift in color palettes, from lighter and softer tones to darker and more muted hues, as well as thicker fabrics and more layered textures.
Some of my favorite textures for the season are leather and suede because they embody autumn so well, especially when they come in the color black. Black will always be a universally flattering color choice, no matter if it’s summer, fall, winter, or spring, but in the autumn, it’s an even more chic in the fall because it looks so good in the form of boots and outerwear.
Though it’s not necessarily that cold yet, a leather jacket is both stylish and functional. If it’s too warm, I always opt to throw it on over my shoulders for a more casual look, but if it were ever to become a little chilly, I know that zipping it up will add an instant touch of edge to my ensemble.
Despite the leather jackets and suede booties, though, I’m not quite ready to give up summer just yet, so I’m still trying to sneak in my halter tops (though in a darker color palette to match the fast approaching autumn season). I’m loving the high-low hem of the one that I’m wearing, which makes for a chic look when worn as is, or when half-tucked for a more put-together ensemble.
