Thank you all so much for the birthday wishes last month! I’m finally done replying to all of the lovely greetings that you left on the blog (I know, I know, I’m so slow 😦 I’m sorry that I’ve been so busy with work lately, please forgive me haha)! And of course, I can’t thank each and every one of you enough for all of the love that you’ve been showing me and my blog! 🙂
Though it’s been almost a month since I’ve turned 24, I don’t actually feel all that different, at least not in body and soul.
However, I think I’ve really grown up a lot over the last year, mainly due to the things that I’ve learned about myself at age 23. I’ve become stronger, more determined, and much more driven than I ever was before, and I think that’s really good, especially since I’m going to be turning 25 next year, one of the biggest milestone birthdays to date (at least for me).
Though 21 was one of the most significant birthdays I’ve celebrated (and 30 will definitely be another), there is another big milestone birthday coming up that a lot of people overlook, but that I often see as a benchmark of some sort, and that’s none other than 25!
For some reason, I always think of 25 as the one-fourth mark (assuming we do actually live until 100, which is actually kind of likely, given the general population’s increasing life span). And as the one-fourth mark of our lives, I feel that 25 deserves a big celebration of some sort, as it really marks a milestone in our lives.
At 25, there are many things that I would like to have achieved, though I’m not really talking about my career or relationships or those aspects in particular.
What I really mean is that at 25, I want to have a better sense of direction and what I want in life, I want to grow even more, but most importantly, I want to be happy with where I’m at.
This is why, at 25, I really want to actually celebrate my birthday with a little party of some sort! I know, I know. I mentioned earlier that I’m not much of a celebrator when it comes to my own birthday, but I feel that 25 is so important, it deserves a little party, don’t you think?
That’s why today, I want to share with you all the ideas and plans that I have for my 25th birthday!
I know, I still have one whole year, but it’s so exciting, I can’t wait to get started! So without further ado, let’s begin!
1. Plan a Getaway Birthday
I’ve never been one to plan a trip for my birthday mainly because I prefer more quiet, intimate gatherings with just a few close friends, but I’ve been to a fair share of getaway birthday parties (most commonly, Las Vegas, since Los Angeles is so close, and most of my friends like to have big bashes in Sin City). These types of celebrations can be quite fun with a big group of friends, and I know that at 25, I’ll want to go all out as well! Whether it’s Las Vegas with the whole squad, a road trip with the bestie, or a romantic trip to Europe, I can’t think of a better way to ring in the last half of my 20s than with a trip!
2. Have an Intimate Gathering
While a part of me really wants to have to have a great big celebration, another part of me wants to continue my tradition of quiet, intimate gatherings, though slightly more elevated than every other birthday since it is the big 25, after all. I normally go out for dinner at an intimate restaurant or cafe every year with a couple of close friends and family members, but for the quarter-life-mark, I’m thinking of brunch instead (since it’s one of my favorite meals), followed by a day out at a local downtown museum, and dessert afterwards at POP Champagne. Their buttered chocolate chip cookies (and just about everything on their dessert menu) is to die for, literally 😀
3. Throw a Themed Party
I’ve always loved theme parties, but it always seems like it’ll take a lot of effort to throw one. For the big 25, though, I think it’ll be a great idea to try having an affair of this kind since it’ll definitely be a milestone celebration to remember. I’m a big fan of the decade themes, with one of my favorites being the Roaring 20’s because it just reminds me of Gatsby and all of the iconic flapper fashion and great jazz that defined the era. Wouldn’t it be fun to have a whole party in this theme? 😉
4. Don’t Forget the Invites
No matter the celebration, though, one of the things that sets the tone for any party is of course the invitations. I’ve seen a lot of different invitations, but Paperless Post, a design-focused site that offers both online and paper invitations, cards, and stationary for one of life’s most memorable moments, will definitely be my first choice for my 25th. Paperless Post offers creative stationary, cards, and invitations that reflect your individual aesthetic through its distinctive and customizable designs. With collaborations with leading fashion and lifestyle designers such as Kate Spade New York, Oscar de la Renta, and Jonathon Adler, there will definitely be an invitation that will be right for you and your occasion.
5. Make Memories
But most importantly, no matter how I end up celebrating, what I’d really love to do for my 25th birthday is to make beautiful and unforgettable memories with all of the people closest to me. I found this beautiful yet simplistic “guest book” made of little Polaroids to be absolutely adorable, and I know I’ll want to have this at my birthday too, no matter how I decide to ring in 25 (courtesy of Live, Laugh, Love, Marriage). It’ll just be so nice to be able to look back at all of the smiling faces years from now, don’t you think? 🙂
What’re your milestone birthday ideas? I’d love to hear about them in the comments! 🙂
