New Year’s Eve – City Chic in Black

Happy Almost-End-of-2015!

Can you all believe that it’s almost the end of the year already?! I’m truly overwhelmed by how quickly time seemed to have passed! Although I’m a bit sad that the year is almost over, I’m also so excited for the beginning of 2016.

2015 has been a truly life changing year, as many of you probably already know from my earlier reflection and outfit post this week. I’m hoping 2016 will be an even better year, filled with more self-growth and development, as well as more accomplishments, not only personally, but creatively as well, especially for the blog! But most importantly, I want nothing more than to just be happy and surrounded by the people that I love and care about in the coming year! 🙂

Haha but enough with the self reflection, since I’ve already done most of it in the post earlier this week! Today, in honor of New Year’s Eve (which is tomorrow, yikes!), I wanted to share with you all a chic outfit that’s fit for all of the parties, no matter if you’re going to count down with some close friends at home or you’re going to be out partying with your squad!

Whenever I think of New Year’s Eve, I think of all black outfits because there’s just something about monochromatic ensembles and the darker color palette that just screams chic, edgy sophistication (with just a dash of sexiness for good measure) 😉

I styled my outfit around one of my newest favorite eyelash sweaters because it’s super warm and comfy, not to mention, the feathering details make it so chic! You all probably remember that I also have the ivory version of it, as can be seen in my previous Holiday Plaid & Feather Sweater outfit post. Whereas the ivory sweater is cuter and more day-time-friendly, the black one is a lot more sophisticated, making it a great choice if you want to look chic and stylish on New Year’s Eve.

Rather than pairing it with regular old jeans, I opted for a figure hugging black pencil skirt with edgy zipper details. Not only does the figure hugging silhouette look so sleek, it really brings out my (almost-non-existent) curves, making my legs more shapely and lean. Though I wore the skirt on its own, you can always throw on a pair of fleece tights (like these super thick and warm ones from H&M to keep you warm, especially if you’re going to be going out at night.

To give the outfit a little more sparkle (because it’s New Year’s Eve after all), I added some draping silver necklaces to my ensemble as well. The shiny chains and glittering beads stand out so brilliantly, especially against the black of my sweater.

In accordance to the splashes of silver around my neck, I opted for my new favorite silver Kate Spade cross body bag, which is super convenient since it’s small enough to not be too heavy on your shoulders when you’re out having fun, but at the same time, it’s still nice to have a place to put your keys, credit card, and phone.

And finally to finish off the whole ensemble, I opted for my favorite leather high heel sandals. I love how edgy they are, and it definitely helps that it adds just a couple more inches to my height 🙂

For this shoot, we tried to do things a little differently since our street photography shoots (such as Parental Advisory and Black At It) have gotten such popular responses in the past. This location was super pretty to shoot in because of the little fountains and mist, though there were a few people who stopped to look at us 😛 It was super fun, and I hope you’ll all like the photos as much as we liked shooting them!

I hope you all enjoyed this chic New Year’s Eve look! What’re you all wearing to say goodbye to 2015 and hello to 2016? Let me know in the comments! I would love to hear how everyone plans on bidding this year farewell!

Have a happy and safe New Year’s Eve, loves! See you all again in 2016!
