Happy Almost-Weekend! 🙂 Haha okay, so maybe there are a few days left until the weekend actually hits, but it’s good to have something to look forward to, right?
Like I said in my “4 Makeup & Skincare Products to Save On” post, I’m back with the counterpart to last week’s article, hereby presenting to you the “4 Makeup Products to Splurge & Invest In.”
Though there are definitely a lot of products that I believe we can save on, there are also those makeup staples that we shouldn’t be scrimpy about, and today, I’m going to be sharing with you all the 4 items that I absolutely insist on splurging and investing in.
Base Makeup (Primers, Foundations, BB & CC Creams)
First on my list is none other than base makeup. The number one reason why I never, ever save on base makeup is because this is the one product that has direct and immediate contact to such a large expanse of your skin.
Lower quality foundations and BB creams can cause skin to be irritated (due to the use of lower-quality ingredients), which can lead to blocked pores and breakouts. Likewise, the formula doesn’t offer ample coverage, making it more likely to slip and slide on your skin, hence makeup can’t last throughout the day.
Because I have more sensitive and acne prone skin, I’m always very careful about my base makeup products, which is why I invest in quality items (even if it’s a little expensive). I’d rather fork up the money first than have to worry about unmanageable breakouts later on, which can cost even more to fix and heal.
Another item on my list is definitely eye shadow primer. Because I have oilier eyelids, having a high quality eye shadow primer really makes such a difference.
Not only does my eye shadow, eyeliner, and mascara stay put the whole day, it really helps bring out the shadows’ color, making for brighter and more radiant eyes.
One of the most popular eyelid primers on the market is definitely Urban Decay’s, and I’m a big fan of it as well since it’s made such a positive difference. Though I know $20 sounds like quite a lot for such a small tube, a little of this product goes such a long way, so it’ll last you pretty long 🙂
Next up on my list of products to invest in is definitely eye shadow.
Yes, I’m talking about all of those gorgeous eye shadow palettes, like the Naked Palettes or the Lorac Pro Palette or the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Eyeshadow Palette!
I’m guilty of owning the Naked 2 Palette and the Naked Basics as well 😛 Haha they’re great investments, and if you don’t have one yet, I’d say you should definitely save money to splurge on one if you can 🙂
Even though they’re not a completely necessary purchase, I have to say that they’re the most amazing shadows I’ve ever used! They’re a great investment if you have extra money.
The reason they’re so great is because the palettes allow you to have so many colors at your disposal all at once, which means you’ll have so many different shades within an arms-reach. This in turn means you won’t really need to spend any more money on eyeshadows in the near future.
And the reality is, these expensive palettes are made with shadows that so vibrant in color and smooth in application, they really can’t be beat by other drugstore shadows 🙂
Last on my list is definitely eyeliner.
Eyeliner is pretty much a makeup staple for every girl (and even some guys), and investing in quality eyeliner, be it gel, liquid, or pencil, can really help you create timeless looks that’ll make such a difference!
Nobody wants to have raccoon eyes or smudged liner (unless we’re doing it intentionally, but that’s a totally different story), and with lower-quality eyeliner, we run the risk of looking like we slept in our makeup even though it’s freshly applied.
High quality eyeliner can really last throughout the day, and with proper application of an eyelid primer beforehand, eyeliner can look quite fresh and require little touchups.
This completes my list of makeup essentials that I definitely splurge on again and again! What are some products that you are willing to invest money in and why? Let me know in the comments below? I’d love to hear all of your wonderful beauty tips/secrets! 🙂

Yes, my mom bought me the Naked2 last Christmas, and ever since then, I’ve been using it nonstop 🙂 Haha and definitely try the primer when you get the chance, Angela! ❤ It makes such a difference, especially when you use it under UD's eyeshadows (it really makes the color pop).

I totally agree with the Urban Decay eye primer, it’s the bet I’ve tried. It makes my eye shadows and eye liner stay all day on my lids. I also love the Naked palette and my favourites are 1 and 3.

These are great tips, I agree with the base and eyeliner products. I would invest in eyeshadows as there are some really nice drug store products that also does the job. Naked palette is a MUST though in every makeup kit.
