With fall rolling around, a lot of people are changing up/adding to their base makeup, and I’m no exception! 🙂
Today, I’m going to be reviewing the BareMinerals Get Started Kit because I’ve been using their products more regularly in the past few weeks! 🙂
I’ve actually had the BareMinerals Get Started Kit for a while now (thank you Vicky from Vicky’s Scrapbook for getting me this for my birthday love!), but I’ve only used it periodically since I’ve always been more of a BB cream kind of person haha 😛
Lately, though, as some of you know from my previous review of Kate Somerville’s Eradikate, that my skin has been suffering from an allergic reaction. Though my BB cream is pretty light and doesn’t irritate my skin, on days where I’m not taking photos, I’ve been opting for the BareMineral’s Foundations since it’s a lot lighter 🙂
The best thing about this kit is that it includes:
- Mini Prime Time
- Original Foundation (SPF 15)
- Matte Foundation (SPF 15)
- All-Over Face Color in Warmth
- Mineral Veil
- Flawless Application Brush
- Makeup Clutch
For the price it’s offered at, it’s actually quite a deal because you get 7 items in one package 🙂
So moving on to the actual review…
I’m not a big fan of the Prime Time because I feel that it actually makes my makeup feel thicker than it really is. If I can avoid it, I’d rather not have so much on sitting on top of my skin, especially if I’m already having an allergic reaction. I’ve used the primer a few times, but mostly, it sits in the back of my makeup drawer.
Now moving on to my favorite item out of this whole kit – it’s definitely the Original Foundation! 🙂 It goes on really light, and though it may take a bit of time to apply, once finished, it gives off such a beautiful, naturally healthy complexion. It doesn’t irritate my skin at all and looks really flawless. One of the downsides is that it takes a while to apply since you have to build up the coverage slowly, swirling on just a bit at a time (or you risk looking like you just caked everything on O.O). This means I can only use this when I’m not crunched for time (which doesn’t happen often since I’m almost always in a rush).
Next is the Matte Foundation, which is essentially the same as the Original Foundation, the only difference being that the finish is matte rather than dewy. Though I prefer dewy skin on a day to day basis, I do like a matte finish once in a while, particularly if I know that I’m going to be in photos with flash (because I don’t want to risk looking like an oily mess haha!) 😛
Another item that I really like overall is the All-Over Face Color, which is a bronzer. I really like the natural glow that it gives the skin 🙂
And of course, up next is the Mineral Veil, which is BareMineral’s version of a makeup setting loose powder, though I can’t really seem to tell the difference between it and my regular Innisfree No-Sebum Powder. I still use the Mineral Veil whenever I use the BareMineral’s foundation, though, since it’s the recommended loose powder for it.
Now that I’ve reviewed all of the actual makeup products, we’ll move on to the brush that’s included in the package! Though I love their Flawless Application Brush, I mainly use it for applying only the bronzer or my normal blush since it’s so fluffy. I have a few other kabuki/foundation brushes at home that really work a lot better at applying the BareMineral’s Foundations because they’re a lot denser and can really help the makeup adhere better to the skin.
And last but not least is the makeup clutch, which I love because a girl can never have too many makeup bags 😉 I love that it’s black because it matches with everything, and it’s super convenient for traveling!
That sums up this review! 🙂 For those of you who are suffering from an allergic reaction, BareMinerals is definitely a product that’s worth a try since their makeup is a lot lighter! I hope you all enjoyed this review, and I’ll be back again soon! 🙂
