I know it’s only Thursday, but my heart’s all ready for Friday already! 🙂
Friday’s my favorite day of the week not only because it signifies the end of the long workweek and the start of the fun weekend, but also because on Fridays, we can be as casual as we want to be!
One of my all-time favorite casual outfits for days like this consists of a simple flannel shirt that can either be paired with shorts or jeans depending on weather conditions 🙂
Even though it’s only the beginning of August, Los Angeles has been experiencing cooler mornings and evenings already, which is why flannel is such a good piece to wear.
With its boyfriend-fit, soft and cottony blend of fabric, and long-sleeves, it makes for such a versatile shirt that can keep you cool during the day due to its loose nature, but still keep you warm during the evening when temperatures drop a little.
One of the best ways to add an instant air of chicness to a simple outfit like this one is to tuck in only the front part of your shirt (known as the half-tuck). I actually use the half-tuck method for most of my everyday basic shirts because it just makes any look so much more put-together, so even the most casual of outfits are instantly elevated to give off a more sophisticated vibe 🙂
Despite the cool evening weather, it’s still summer in Los Angeles, which means afternoons can get quite toasty, so I opted for shorts over jeans. Choosing shorts that have a cuffed hem gives more definition and an optical illusion of more layers to an otherwise loose, casual, and simple outfit.
Paired simply with gladiator sandals, the whole California-summer-boho-chic ensemble is complete, and to really make the whole look pop even more, I chose a bright red satchel to keep all of my things in one place 🙂
