Fringed Kimono & Lace Romper

The weather’s heating up, and with the arrival of summer comes some of the season’s most anticipated events – summer music festivals!

With popular events such as Coachella, EDC, and many other local music and arts festivals nowadays, there’s no shortage of fun under the sun as the summer rolls in.

For events like these, I’m just so lazy to get dressed sometimes because it’s just too hot. Instead, I just want to stay cool with pieces comprised of smooth fabrics that won’t trap in and generate unnecessary heat, but at the same time, look fabulous and are easy to move around in.

True to the season’s needs of light yet stylish clothing, one of the best ways to stay cool as the days get warmer comes in one of the hottest and most daring trends – lingerie as daywear (as seen in many of the runway shows in Paris and Milan this year).

While wearing a full-on slip might be a little too suggestive for daytime, a romper, with its bottoms, add a casual flair to the whole outfit. By strategically picking a fabric, like satin or cotton, the romper won’t add any necessary heat, while also giving off a very casually laid-back yet fun look. And the bottoms make it much easier to walk around in too😛

With details like lace, the whole piece is a lot sexier and flirtier, giving just the right amount of femininity without being overbearingly stifling, especially as the days get warmer (particularly since lace makes you itch during hotter seasons – i.e., when you sweat).

Adding another more daytime-friendly piece to the whole outfit, I donned a long fringed kimono as a cover-up. The large and fun pattern adds dimension to an otherwise monochromatic look, and it’s great to have something covering the shoulders and legs from the blazing sun. Also, the draping fringe, as it brushes casually against the skin whenever the winds breeze by, adds such a romantically lazy touch to the whole ensemble🙂

I also wanted to add some edge to the whole outfit, so I finished the look with a pair of open-toed strappy high heels. They not only add height, but also a more sensually feminine and mature vibe to an otherwise simple yet fun look.

The more casual, laid-back detailing of the fringed kimono juxtaposes nicely against the feminine and flirty lace of the romper, so the whole outfit is romantic and magical enough to go out in, yet daytime-friendly enough for even the most informal parties of the spring and summer seasons.

What I like the best is that the fringe and lace is perfect for festival season, particularly since there’ll be so many live concerts and music events in those hot summer nights!
