Spring is seemingly slipping away overnight in California. The heat is creeping in, and it’s barely ten in the morning. Along with the change in weather, we’ve also been graced with glowing sunshine and warm winds, and what a better way to welcome the summer than with a new wardrobe.
As noted by designers such as Moschino, Pierre Balmain, and Prada in the past two years, floral patterns are a staple in both spring and summer fashion collections, and this trend is bound to come back even stronger this summer.
Who could resist the vividly bright colors, flirtatiously cute patterns, and romantically soft prints of floral dresses? No one, and of course, I’m never one to pass up on fashion trends either.
To match the summery weather of the day, I’ve donned a mock-two-piece floral-patterned mini-dress, which is not only perfect for the sun, but it’s also one of the hottest fashion trends this season.
The skirt of the dress is adorned with large orange flower prints, and it stands out vividly, especially since the top and middle of the mock-two-piece-dress are of a softer color scheme. I love dresses like these because they can be paired with lightweight knit cardigans, giving off a very soft, romantic, girl-next-door vibe.
To finish off the whole ensemble, I donned my favorite strappy sandals and paired it with a white, rectangular, shoulder bag. The shape of the crossbody bag really adds structure to the whole look, which is soft and flowing, but the bag gives the whole outfit a focus point.
Dress: Mock Two-Piece Floral Printed Dress, USD $19.99
(I purchased this from an online fashion boutique based in Taiwan about half a year ago when it was on sale. Sadly, their website does not exist any longer, but there are many online boutiques that do carry these styles, such as YesStyle, Click n Funny, Eyescream, and Spicy Avenue)
Cardigan: Fletcher Cove Cardigan from Hollister, USD $39.50
Shoes: Montego Bay Strappy Zip-Up Sandals in Nude, USD $12.00
Marc by Marc Jacobs Amy Leather Watch, USD $150.00
H&M Rectangular Shoulder Bag in White, USD $24.95
Elsa Peretti for Tiffany and Co. Open Heart Pendant Necklace in Sterling Silver, USD $125.00
This look is casual enough for going out with friends, yet cute enough for a simple date. Not only do dresses keep you cool in the summer, but the floral patterns really grab the attention of passersby, and you’ll for sure be the center of attention this season.
Hope you all enjoyed this Outfit of the Day, and I’ll be back again soon.
